Helping kids cope
A 2021 study by children's charity Barnado's warned that the coronavirus pandemic could leave a
legacy of anxiety and poor mental health and wellbeing among British children and young people. Children as young as 8 reported feeling more stressed and worried compared to before the pandemic.
Introducing yoga into a children's routine equips them with a set of tools that they can use when life presents them with challenges. Children's yoga classes teach everything from fun poses and
movements that will help them forget their worries while they're practising, to breathwork that provides techniques to relieve stress and anxiety.
Yoga is also a great way for kids to become more comfortable in their bodies. With social media providing a constant pressure for bodies to look a certain way, children as young as 3 years old are reported to have issues with body image. Yoga helps kids to understand what their bodies can do, boosting self-esteem and awareness of what they can do beyond the way they look.
At this year's OM Yoga Show, classes will run throughout the weekend, led by specialist teachers for children of all ages. From toddlers to teens, there's something for everyone, and children will be encouraged, most of all, to have fun!
Entry to the OM Yoga Show is free for children under sixteen, making it the perfect day out for the whole family!
